First & Last Day of 2nd Grade

Nick’s first day of 2nd Grade
Nick’s last day of 2nd Grade

These pictures make me laugh a little! Look how far away they are standing from one another on day one. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher this year. Nick is very easy going and I didn’t have any doubt that he would adjust well to a new school and new surroundings but I am so thankful that his teacher and all the staff and the school made this year so fun and encouraging!

Nick is a great friend! He has made many friends and even a best friend this year. He still talks to a lot of his friends in Kansas too. I love his heart and his ability to see people the way God sees them. His teacher shared a moment with me towards the middle of the year. They were having a movie day and the students were on the floor watching a movie. Nick looked back to see a student sitting by himself at the tables. Nick quietly gathered his things and went back to sit by the student.

Nick LOVES math! I mean LOVES it. When he would finish his assignment at school he would turn the page over and do math facts. He isn’t a big fan of reading. Which let’s face it-I’m not either unless it is something I am interested in. I am very proud of him though. He tested at the beginning of the year in dibels and scored a 51. The second time a 71, he continued to grow in reading and ended
the year out at 111. That is amazing for someone who isn’t a fan of reading!

I am so proud of you Nick and I am excited to see what 3rd grade holds for you!
