Nicholas' First Christmas
On Christmas Eve we went to Juanita's house. Every year Chris' side of the family has a huge get together on Christmas Eve. This year was special for the obvious reason-it being Nick's 1st Christmas. It was also special this year because there are two other little ones who are now walking around, Landon and Kate.
Chris and I decided to try out what might become a tradition-of staying the night over there and waking up on Christmas day to open gifts with Nana-Nita! It was great. We woke up had biscuits and gravy and eggs and Coffee!!!! Nick did great too!!! We then go to my moms house for Christmas day! This was great too(besides the fact that we missed my sister and brother dearly)! My side of the family does a mexican theme for Christmas and my mom every year gives us a Nutcracker as a gift and it is always exciting to see which one she got us for the year! She also started a tradition for her grandkids(Nick is the 1st and only right now)a little german pickle ornament. She is going to get her grandchildren a pickle on their 1st Christmas and on Christmas morning they are supposed to find the pickle hidden on the Christmas tree and if they do find it they recieve an extra gift from Gramma!!!!
My Grandma also made Nick a stocking!!!! She made me and my siblings a stocking when we were little and it really meant so much to me that she made one for him!
We then went back to Juanita's house to see Andy, Steph and the girls to eat another dinner and open gifts-but before that we had to make one last stop!
My cousin Michael proposed to his girlfriend Mariah! Since they live near Juanita-we stopped by to congratulate them!

Nativity Scenes and Prairie Garden Art Co.
Earlier this month I posted pictures of one of my favorite Christmas decoration made by my Grandma. This is another favorite decoration-The Llardo Nativity Scene. My Grandma Mary gave this to my mom for Christmas one year. I asked my mom if it could eventually go to me!!?!?! She gave it to me this year!!! :-)
When I was little it didn't have a stable in the background. She always wanted one though-so she made one to go with it! My mom has a company called "Prairie Garden Art Company" She and her Husband Rex make birdhouses and garden decor such as, owls, flowers, bird baths, etc.
If you are interested in anything they are on etsy.com and you can type in "prairie garden art co." or follow their blog at www.prairiegardenartco.blogspot.com
Here are a few pictures of the Llardo Nativity Scene:

Joseph

They can go inside of the stable....

or outside of the stable

The other Nativity Scene is the Willow Tree Angel Nativity Scene. I told Chris that I wanted this for Christmas this year. He went and got it and let me open it up early this year so I could decorate with it!

Poor Sickling
Nick is fighting his first cold of the year. It makes me so sad to hear him sniffle and cough-but it makes me soooo happy that he feels better when I hold him! :-)

Payton and Hank
Chris and I swore up and down that things would not change our relationship with Payton and Hank once Nick was born-and for the most part it hasn't. Payton and Hank are two of the most loved dogs in the world but I can't help but wonder everytime I look at them if they are sad.The day my water broke we took them to Chris' mom's house and the car ride their Hank and Payton were very calm and had a worried look on their faces. Chris went to see them everyday that I was in the hospital but I was away from them for 4 days. I know what some of you are thinking "they are just dogs" but to me and Chris our dogs are family! I know they must have been so worried that I had left-and when I did come back home I had a new little baby in my arms. I remember Paytons reaction when I first brought Hank home. It was exactly the same until he realized he had a buddy to play with! :-)I can't wait til Nick is old enough to play with them!!!!
I was holding Nick in my lap the other day and Hank kept trying to get my attention. When I went upstairs later that day and was rocking Nick to sleep in the recliner-Hank got up there with me and I rocked him too!!! Today I took Payton and Hank on a very long walk and a car ride-just like old times! I am not worried about how they are acting with the baby. They are very protective of him already and they are always worried about him when he cries-Sooooo Sweet!!!! I just want them to know how much we still love them!
Somebody is ready for Christmas
Nicks 1st Thanksgiving
Let me just start out by saying how thankful we are for all the wonderful people and things in our life. We are truly blessed.
Thanksgiving day we went to Chris' cousin's house. She has a beautiful home and everytime we are there I tell Chris I want to move into a house like that! It has so much character and she has great taste in paint colors-or should I say "we" have great taste in paint colors!?!? (there are two rooms in her house that are painted the same as mine)
I made green bean casserole for the 1st time and it turned out great! (the trick is to use "golden" mushroom soup instead of "cream" of mushroom soup! The other food was great too.

Chris' Cousins Sara and Diana and Aunt Jan with Nick

Nana-Nita and Nick

Kate (Diana's daughter) Nana-Nita and Nick
After that we went to Juanita's house and saw Chirs's sister Kate and his brother Andy and his family.
I don't have any pictures of Andy or Steph holding Nick-he was pretty tired by the time we got there and getting pretty fussy. I do have some great pics of him and his cousins though!!

Juanita and her Grandchildren

Tatum and Nick

Ashlyn and Nick
The next day we went to my moms for Thanksgiving! We had a great time and Nick got to see his Grandpa Rex for the 2nd time! Rex and Nicholas share a birthday-as you can see they already have a great time together!!!

Grandpa Rex and Nick

Gramma, Grandpa Rex and Nick
The last Thanksgiving was at our house! We had my dad, my sister Katie, a friend of hers and my Grandma Mary over for dinner. I think it is safe to say that Nicks 1st Thanksgiving was pretty eventful!!!!

We missed you Alison and JP!
