Nick's Big Day

When Cynthia and Ethan came over last week, she talked to Nick about school. She arranged to pick him up this morning and take him with them. He talked about it all weekend. 

"I'm going to school with CC and Ethan, but not you and Olivia and not Addy" 

When the day arrived he was all ready to go. He was so proud to be going to school and had to tell Addy goodbye before he left...about 3 times. The last time he ran and slipped on the slushy snow on the sidewalk, fell flat on his face and spilled his snack  :-(

Poor kid. Don't you hate it when the day is going so well and then something like that happens especially when it is a special day! But he made it to school and had a blast from what I hear. He came home and told me all about his morning. He played with fake food-which if you know Nick, you know that is about 2 steps away from anything Star Wars, he played with trains, made me a picture and borrowed some books. He was so excited to tell me all about his picture with cupcakes and hearts and elephants!

Then this evening we had a mommy/son date night, which included park, dinner, ice-cream and later playing storm troopers!

He is now tucked into bed and sound asleep. My kids have been going to bed a lot earlier lately. I can't believe I have had the extra time in the evenings to blog about our days!

Bly

 Nick's favorite character in Star Wars right now is Bly. We bought him some Clone War DVDs for Christmas and he likes to reenact the scenes. On Saturday morning Chris taped flashlights on his storm trooper helmet so he could be Bly.

 Chris even gave Nick his own shelf for "his guys"!

It is always a nice little surprise to see the pictures of their Saturday "Guy Time" I hear them having fun downstairs but it is fun to have those memories documented too!

Over the Weekend

Andy's family came to town this weekend. Stephanie got him Wichita State basketball tickets to the game on Saturday and he took Chris with him! Stephanie and I went shopping during the day and the guys took the kids to the park and even took some pictures!

While Chris and Andy were at the game Stephanie and the girls hung out at our house! It was a pretty quiet night. And by quiet, I mean kids sitting on the couch glued to games on their tablets!

the only thing that happened more than the games was holding Olivia. Her brother, aunt, cousins and mommy just love to hold her!

It was a very fun weekend! Even with a 2 hr nap when we got home, Nick is already in bed and has been since 6:30...hints my time to update this blog! :-)

I turned 28 on the 18th of this month. Chris and I celebrated on Saturday by going to Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City and picking out wooden floors for living space upstairs! When we got back to pick Nick and Olivia up I had a cake waiting for me! 

On Tuesday (which was the actual day of my birthday) I got another little surprise from my wonderful husband! A gift card to one of my favorite stores, corona light (my favorite beer) and a marc jacobs purse that I have been wanting for a long time. I have never ever had a name brand purse nor could I ever justify spending the money on one so it is kind of a big deal to me! There is something to be said about having Christmas, Anniversary, Valentines Day and a Birthday within an 8 week time frame! I am one lucky girl!

8 Wk Checkup

Olivia had her 8 week checkup today. She is 23" long and 9 lbs.
 She had 4 shots today. :-(
I had forgotten that surprised look on a baby's face followed by a loud cry when shots are given. Breaks my heart! But love the moment I get to pick her up and comfort her! :-)

7 weeks and now 8

These pictures were taken at 7 weeks. She is getting big. She has outgrown most of her newborn pajamas in length, but she is still way to small for her 0-3 month pajamas and clothes. These past 8 weeks have gone by so fast. She has been sleeping through the night for the past week and is awake a lot more during the day. She is cooing and smiling in response to our expressions and our voices. I can get her to laugh every once in awhile too. A few nights ago Olivia and I were sitting upstairs hanging out with a friend of mine and my sister, Nick started walking up the stairs with a flash light and Olivia got the biggest grin on her face. I am talking ear to ear smile! It was the cutest face I have ever seen! She has a check-up this week so stay tuned for height and weight updates!
