Story # 1
I haven't told my husband about this one yet. It was way to scary and I really shouldn't have done this. It was very very irresponsible and I feel like a horrible mother for even getting us in the situation. My instincts were screaming at me all the way to the door. Last year I bought a chair off of craigslist. The woman selling the chair lived in an apartment in a nice area. I had Nicholas with me. I told her to bring the chair down to the parking lot when we were on the phone. When I got there she came outside and told me to come in and look at the chair. She lived on the 2nd floor. I started thinking to myself "I have a baby in my car who is asleep" I went in anyways with Nicholas in his carseat. She shut the door behind me and the apartment was dark. Her husband was in the dining room with a hammer in his hand. If that isn't scary I don't know what is. It ended up being okay and the man took the chair out to my car and we left. From then on I vowed never to pick anything up from craigslist and never to make a sale without my husband around or at a public place. Thank you God for getting us out of the one alive!
Story # 2
I am the kind of person who hates storing things. If I am not using something or don't want something anymore I just throw it away. I shouldn't since my mother in law has a garage sale every year and I could just store my things at her house but I throw it away anyway. This time however I wanted to save some money to redo Nicholas' room later this summer so I listed a few things to see if I could get some money. I listed a table. It sold within the hour. Chris and I met the woman at starbucks. Goodbye table. Hello cash. We weren't home yet when I had another person text me about the table. I told him/her that the table sold already. Then over text he said that I needed to delete the posting after it had sold and that I was ponscum for false advertising the table. "UMMMMMMMM OKAY" I thought that was a little weird. EXCUSE me for not having Internet on my phone. I got the cheap phone and only have a desktop at home. I let it go and thankfully never heard back from the person.
Story # 3
I have a wedding dress in my closet. It has never been worn. Still has tags and the best part...it was seen on General Hospital, you know, the soap opera on ABC!
Anyway I have been listing it for quite sometime. First for $100 then for $90 finally on my last cleaning day I decided I would knock down the price to $40.
9:30 at night I get a text asking about the dress. (Yay finally)
She said she was a size 6 and asked if I thought she would fit into it. (the dress is a size 4) I said :
I am not sure but it laces in the back so it is possible.
She then asked if I would take less for it.
I asked her what she was offering
She asked how low I would go. I said $40.
She said that was a little to high for her. She then asked if I would accept a trade for it. I said "like what?"
She said she had an mp3 player with a missing button and no headphones. I said no thanks. I told her I would take $30 for it. She agreed. Then text me and said I live in Winfield. I didn't respond. (does she expect me to drive it to her?) 30 minutes later she text me and said that she also didn't have a car. Again I didn't respond.
The next day she asked if I would meet her somewhere. I told her that I would meet her in Andover somewhere. She asked if I would meet her in Douglass. (UM NO LADY)I told her no but that she can make arrangements to pick it up and that it would have to be on the weekend. I never heard back from her. That was Tuesday. Then Saturday morning at 7 am I get a text from her. She said can we still meet today for the dress? And I swear not 30 seconds later I get another text saying " I need to know before I wake him"
This was the 1st weekend Nicholas was sick with an ear infection and I had made plans already since I never heard back from her. So I said sorry I can't today.
She then said "And why not? You told me we could meet this weekend." So I said I never heard back from you and I have a sick child at home today.
She said "so. I was going to pick it up can I please? I don't have a phone this is my boyfriends and so I couldn't get ahold of you. and I would have emailed you but I don't have a computer"
then she said: "please"
then she said: "please"
then she said: "please"
then she said: "please"
then she said: "please"
then she said: "I need to know before I wake him please"
All before I could even respond.
So I said: Sorry I can't today.
then she said: "And why not?"
then she said "please"
So I said: You need to stop texting me. I said that I can't today. If you want to make other arrangements I am open to that but if not then stop texting me.
She said: "well if you are going to be like that you can just keep the damn thing"
Now is it just me or is this woman crazy. Where is she going to wear this big fancy dress if she can't even afford anything. WHATEVER.
Story # 4
I really was done with craigslist after the last story. I thought my listings had all expired. I was wrong. A person text me about a blender I was selling.
Ofcourse he didn't want to drive to Andover to pick it up. No, he lived in Maize.
I told the person that for as cheap as the item was I would only meet anywhere unless it was in Andover. I also told him that I would be in Maize 3 days later if he wanted to wait 3 days and meet me then. He agreed. So I texted him on Thursday and told him I would meet him at the McDonald's on 21st and Maize road at 6:30 (b/c I had plans at 7) He said he couldn't meet me then but maybe closer to 9. Since I was on that side of the town I said I would see what time I was headed home and let him know. He text me back and said
"Okay, oh and bring your friend too :P"
I don't know about you but if someone tells me to bring a friend that late at night and has a smiley face with a tongue sticking out I AM NOT GOING.
I didn't leave him hanging though I text him right back and said:
I am sorry but from your last text I don't feel comfortable meeting you so I am going to pass.
He said he was sorry and that he was just a "big flirt"
my thought on that: WELL THIS IS NOT A SOCIAL EVENT it is a business transaction. Go buy your own blender perv.
I will never ever buy or sell anything off of craigslist. EVER.
The END!
